First things first - if you actually looked and studied cel animation you can notice saturation on the edges.
Guy with a nick TESTMACARONI showed in his animations that he's specifically adds saturation on the edges(For more information, i have added his tutorial in my cel shrine, Look for Fake Cel Animation Tutorial.)
With this post i want to describe my alternative experemental solution for adding saturation to the fake cels.
Kinda like his solution, but in my own way.
Aseprite: Copy the outline to the separate layer, select all(CTRL+A),
It should look like this
Then i have chosen the magic wand( If you are not in the graphic editors, you wouldn't believe it, but it's actually an instrument)with W, and clicking RMB on outline.
Select ALL except black
Now, i have chosen white color, and pressing S, and RMB on added color(You can do it several times and expend more, it's up to you).
Now you need to remove the Black.Just in case, i don't mean racism.Only the white color should remain.
Also, don't forget to clear the white color on the border.
It's GIMP time! ( Photoshop became spyware, and AI software, so no, sorry Adobe, but i love my brains.)
Now i added all of my layers and new saturation mask. The Mode is Saturation HSV(I don't exactly sure, because my gimp in ukrainian, but it's should be like that).Don't forget opacity!
Just in case i have replaced all of ukrainian text.I was to lazy to look for the language switch. Also, it's not ready CEL, i borrowed it for this tutor.
Now where that mask lay - the edges will be saturated. I also add a Gaussian Blur. But i am not sure.
Actually, you are not required to use aseprite, But i am still using it for my cels.If you can do that without aseprite, i have no doubt that it's possible, but i usually do that it's way.
Cel is ready for consumption. Put it inside your animaton program(I am using adobe Flash MX 2k4), mix it, and serve your animation. . .
Mom said that i have an Adobe Animate at Home.
Lastly i want to add that sometimes you may need to add saturation on the color edges, kinda like on this image.
I know, it maybe looking bad but i am actually planning to filter it with a tape, and do some experements.
